Chronology of cameras Ihagee
The Exakta VX 1000 TL, produced by the state company VEB Pentacon is a camera with characteristics identical to those of theExaktaVX 1000; However, there are two differences:
- On the top cover, engraving "Ihagee Dresden" considered as a symbol of private property is replaced by "aus DRESDEN".
- The letters TL are engraved left on the front plate and VX 1000 is still right.
The Exakta VX 1000 TL was dedicated to the North American market. TL stands for Through the Lens.Since 1966, two prisms with CdS cell-TTL, were marketed to equip Exakta: The Travemat prism of the company A. Schacht and the prism Examat from the company Harwix. The official importer, Exakta Company, wanted by adding the letters TL engraving on the faceplate, attract customers by that name. He stated that these cameras could compete with Western technology products (now becoming more and more from Japanese origin).
The Exakta VX 1000 TL was fitted as standard, with the lens Exaktar 2/50 mm from Japanese origin or with the classic Carl Zeiss Jena 2,8/50 mm
The same camera, intended for export to the Western Europe countries, is called Elbaflex with a deep-engraved VX 1000 on the front plate or simply VX 1000, with no engraving on the front plate.
